Welcome 2012

A whole month has past since my last post and what a wonderful month it has been. School ended for both of us and we have been able to be together since then. My birthday was wonderful! I still insist age is simply a number, I am not sure I will ever feel my age.
We managed to get most of my stuff packed up to send to Medicine Hat with only one accident and then we headed down to Whitefish for our 2 weeks of Christmas break. It was the most amazing break, we both slept a ton and for anyone who knows me, hearing that I slept 10 hours a night will seem unreal. Blackout curtains are amazing! The first week there was very little snow so we spent a lot of time shopping. We had a dinner and theatre date with Lyle's parents the first week and it was a great time. I tried escargot for the second time in my life and actually enjoyed them this time.
We skied 4 times I think while we were down there, some days were better than others, only 1 was a complete disaster. My final day of skiing was my favourite! Chair 9 opened up and so far it's my favourite place to ski, I spent about half the time out with just Shirley (Lyle's mom) and I working on the run and practising my technique and came out of the day wanting to ski again. I am excited that we get to go back down for reading week in February.
Christmas was great, Lyle bought me the hammock I have been wanting since the summer and a bunch of other things and I got him a set of golf clubs. The time with his family was wonderful and we were able to skype with most of my family including my darling brand new nephew!
New Years eve was our last day of skiing and by that time the whole family was there so we did some skating that evening which was a lot of fun, the rest of the night was pretty low key but that is fine with me as long as I was with Lyle.
We are excited for 2012 and all it has in store for us. Only 4 months left until the wedding and our grand adventure to Europe!
The move to Edmonton was special to say the least, a 2 door sunfire was not really equipped for what we needed to fit into it, soon I will post photos of what we looked like. We came through it unscathed minus the door to the glove box which I busted the handle with my knee....long story.
So far my week in Edmonton has been quiet, I am still not into my apartment yet but hopefully soon. This week we also started our biggest loser challenge: wedding edition. We both have some weight we want to lose before the wedding and since we are competitive we decided a challenge would help. Lyle's goal is to lose 37lbs and mine is to lose a minimum of 21 though 31 would be awesome. We will see how it goes, I have taken over trying to provide healthy meals and Lyle is in charge of workouts. I will keep you all posted on how this goes, maybe this will be my motivation to post weekly!

Happy December

Well I am in the middle of the last week of school and both Lyle and I are up to our eyeballs in school work. I realized though that I hadn't posted in over a month and decided to take a few minutes to up date you all.
November was a busy month as we helped out with both zone and provincial volleyball tournaments in Medicine Hat, Lyle is gaining quite the reputation for his announcing and was even hit on at the last college games we were at for his smooth, melodic voice. I giggled a little bit as I watched this girl approach his table :)
Movember never really happened... we went from the baby face you saw in the last photo to not shaving at all... so the beard is getting a little out of control again, but I am dealing with it.
As I mentioned we are both a little swamped with final projects and exams (though he has way more exams than I do). A happy moment this month came when we found out he would be done exams on my birthday, so I will actually get to see him that night and we will be able to head down to the condo a few days early and have a full two weeks of relaxation.
It is hard to believe that Christmas is already upon us. This is my favorite time of year, but the year just seems to have passed so quickly! Next week brings my last shift at the pharmacy which is bittersweet. I am excited to be moving to Edmonton and starting practicum, but I have been at this job almost 4 years and have worked with my boss for almost 7, it is a whole new chapter in life.
Wedding plans are coming along nicely, last week I booked the temple for our sealing, the stake centre for our reception, and the slush machine and photo booth for the reception. We are excited to watch it all come together, and as much as we weren't keen on our 9 month engagement we decided this weekend that there was no way I could have pulled everything together for a Christmas wedding, and still had any sanity left.
My sanity seems to be hanging by a thread and I am grateful for Lyle, who will just left me cry when my body says it has had enough. He is a keeper!

I am adding just a few of our engagement photos taken by Meghan Maxwell, she is amazing and I am so glad we have her!
This isn't one I will use on the invitation, but it is one I want blown up on my wall!

I really enjoy this one of us :)

Matchy plaid, because we are dorky like that!

Movember....

Ok so I have a post I have been thinking about but haven't manage to get a picture yet of the item I want to talk about.. But watch for the post about our book of life, it will be coming soon.

So as most of you can at least tell by the picture my love (given name Lyle) has a beard. Everyone we know pretty much has an opinion on the beard. Many don't love the beard, but as he knows and in the words of Ke$ha, "I love your beard." He knows how much I love the beard and this works well because he loves the beard too.
His lower face had not seen daylight for 10 months....until today that is. Now I promise that as soon as I can get the picture off his phone I will post his baby smooth face on the blog.
The reason for the shave... Movember. His school program has had two professors battle prostate cancer in the last year, one of whom lost his life to the battle. SO in honor of these men the boys are fundraising and growing moustaches. I am still not sure how I am going to feel when Lyle has a full grown creeper stache, but I will love him anyway. I just might take a lot of photos for future use...like the wedding slideshow :)
So tonight I got some Skype time in order to check out the face, I was unsure of how I would feel. Obviously I would still love him, I was just afraid I might be shocked. It's been a year and 8 months since I last saw him with no facial hair. Seeing him today just made me happy, I will love that face clean shaven or fully bearded and lets be honest probably any stage in between. He makes me smile everyday, I guess that's why I am marrying him!

P.s. picture now added, this is Lyle and his cat Polly.

Welcome to our Blog :)

I have always thought about creating a blog, but always put it off. I guess now is as good a time as any to jump on the band wagon. I figure if nothing else it will be like a journal for me/us. Neither of us is very good at journaling yet, though we want to be in our own way.

I am going to use the blog to share fun things about us, crafty stuff (for as crafty as I get), and just sharing stuff that I think is cool.

For those of you who know us, we are wedding planning. The wedding is 6 months and 8 days away according to my dashboard. Lyle laughs at me for counting down... but hey I have counted down to less exciting things than my own wedding! Now as far as wedding plans go, I think I am pretty ahead of the game. I had my dress before we were engaged and in the last 3 months we have accomplished the following:

  • bought his ring
  • bought his suite/shirt/tie
  • bought both our shoes... but mine still need to be painted
  • bought all the groomsmen attire
  • picked out bridesmaid's dresses... but not ordered
  • made the demo centerpiece and are slowly buying vases as we get the sweet 40% off coupons from Michaels
  • ordered and received my hair piece, which is super cute and sparkly! yay for Etsy!
  • ordered our wedding flowers
So I think we are doing pretty well so far!
Ok this will be the end of my first post. Welcome to our little world :)
